Have you ever been in a situation in which you were extremely fearful? Recently, I was participating in a class in which I was to present some assigned material. After studying the information for several hours I was not clear as to how I was going to make my presentation.
The teacher called on the first student. As she was speaking I looked down at my sketchy notes, and watched her as she delivered her well prepared speech. Tension in my jaw, and shoulders became almost unbearable. Thoughts of being unprepared filled by head, as wishes of being somewhere else danced in my mind. As the next speaker spoke I became aware that fear was overtaking me. However, it was not too late to come up with a game plan.
First, I became aware of the fear in my mind and body. Then I imagined love surrounding the fear. Immediately, the tension in my shoulders and jaw melted away as the feeling of love warmed by body. Next, by relaxing my mind I opened myself to the infinite wisdom that we can all draw from. Calmly jotting down my outline, clarity replaced my earlier confusion. When my turn came to speak, I spoke from my heart. Confidence and ease were in my voice. Remembering to encircle my feeling of fear with love worked for me and can work for you.
Remember to be aware of your feelings and thoughts. When feeling fear, accept that feeling, and then surround it with love. If fearful thoughts persist: Be in the moment, and get in touch with the love that you have within you.
Remember to affirm: “LOVE IS THE ANSWER”
